My students love to play Fast & Curious at the beginning of a math lesson to see how much they already know from previewing the lesson the night before via Edpuzzle video(s). I put together a few questions on Quizizz and students have 10 minutes at the start of the class to come in, get settle, and play. Students can be competitive and want to earn the top 3 spots for first, second, and third places. I reward them with a positive phone call or a positive note home that students can give to their parents. While students are playing, I can use that time to take attendance and walk around the class with my clipboard to check and stamp students' Cornell Notes that they have taken the night before. Fast and Curious (via Quizizz) is a great way to assess students' diligence and prior knowledge.
After 10 minutes, I go over the questions that students got incorrectly the most as well as any questions that students wish for me to go over. Due to popular request, I have always snipped the particular problem and paste the problem onto Google's Jamboard. This way, students have access to the notes we haven taken in class at any time, even when they are absent. The link to the Jamboard is always uploaded on Google Classroom along with students' daily assignment. We complete the Fast & Curious usually in the first 15 to 20 minutes before starting our in-class practice utilizing other forms of EduProtocol. I recommend for you to check out the original book 1 and book 2 for detailed explanation on how to implement EduProtocol for your grade level and subject matter.
